FINANCIAL TECHNICIAN
LIMITED TERM POSITION

Salary: $2,267.00 per month, plus excellent benefits.

Opening: There is one limited-term Financial Technician position with the Yakima County Clerk’s Office. This position is funded through December 31, 2014. (Note: Funding may continue beyond this date and is dependent upon the Clerk’s budget review at that time.) This recruitment may be used to fill job vacancies which may occur within 90 days of the closing of this posting.

Essential Job Functions:
Reviews court documents for form and completion to ensure compliance with County Clerk’s rules and regulations. Prioritizes and ultimately processes requests for copies from the general public and other agencies.

Answers telephone, mail and in-person inquiries regarding account information from victims, criminal defendants and the general public.

Receives processes and gives receipts for payments made by mail and in person. Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: Duties are performed in an office setting; confidentiality is a requirement. Requires: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, mobility, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Sedentary work: exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting, most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Equipment Operated: Telephone, microfilm/fiche reader/printers, scanner, copy machine, fax machine, computer and
department software, printer; shredder.

Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of: (Upon Entry)

  • Office practices and procedures including a variety of computer applications.
  • Basic Math principles and calculations.
  • Customer service techniques.
  • Legal system, legal terminology, court rules and procedures.
  • Appropriate grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Principles and methods associated with public information dissemination.

Skills (and abilities) in: (Upon entry)

  • Handling multiple tasks and resolving problems with the assistance of a supervisor.
  • Archiving/maintaining court related activities and related revenues/collections.
  • Organization, prioritization and attention to detail with highest degree of accuracy.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Performing basic mathematical calculations.
  • Using office equipment and computer equipment and software.
  • Establishing effective working relationships with co-workers, other agencies and the general public;
  • Working effectively with constant interruptions;
  • Communicating and expressing ideas effectively, orally and in writing.

Experience & Training: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and one year general office experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Preference:
Experience or training related to the law and justice field (legal secretary, paralegal) is preferred.
Civil or Criminal Justice Work Exp. is preferred.
Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
Experience using JIS and SCOMIS.
Proficiency with imaging systems and computer data entry experience is preferred.

Employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation.
