There is one part-time (36 hours per week) opening in the Office of Aging and Long Term Care, Yakima Administrative
Office. This position will greet the general public, answer multiple phones lines and route calls as appropriate, answer questions and provide general information. The position entails entering data into data bases, taking appropriate messages, copying and collating information, sorting and disseminating mail, designing spreadsheets and graphs on EXCEL and preparing POWERPOINT presentations. This recruitment could be used to fill jobs that occur within 90 days of the closing date of this posting.
Essential Job Functions:
Greets walk-ins and answers questions. Takes phone calls and routes these calls appropriately, will answer basic questions
callers may have and help navigate them to the appropriate ALTC office or employee that can assist the caller. This position
will perform routine office duties, such as copying, sorting and disseminating information. Refill office supplies, and ensure
appropriate office machine maintenance. Performs filing, organizing and general support for special projects. Assists with
large mail outs. Retrieves mail, sorts, date stamps and disseminates mail. Takes outgoing mail to post office.
Designs Excel spreadsheets and graphs for various projects/reports; prepares letters of correspondence on Microsoft WORD.
Formats POWERPOINT presentations for staff. Maintains databases and enters data information into ACCESS.
Enters Participant Information Form and TCARE form into the appropriate data bases.
Other activities as assigned such as staff meetings, office clerical support such as running reports, filing, organizing, etc.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Duties are performed in an office setting. This position requires driving, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, mobility,
fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Rated as Sedentary work: exerting up to 10 pounds
of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise
move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting, most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if
walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Position is required to work in multiple locations as needed, travel to court house and to training sites. May have to travel
in inclement weather. This position will be required to work at both the Yakima Administrative office and on occasion the
Yakima direct service office.

Knowledge: (Upon entry)
Knowledge of aging services, knowledge of aging network and contractors. Skill in working the public. Skill in customer service and working with the public. Knowledge of effective communication skills.
Skills (and abilities): (Upon entry)
Excellent oral communication skills to include active listening, Excellent interpersonal skills essential, computer skills helpful; awareness of diverse populations, observation skills, information gathering abilities, problem identification abilities and good problem solving skills.
Experience & Training: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.) and one year experience working with social services, with this experience being customer service oriented related to office support functions; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Valid Washington State Driver’s License
Experience with data entry and creating databases in Excel and Access; drafting correspondence in Word and formatting presentations in Powerpoint.
This is a Yakima County Courthouse Master Contract Bargaining Unit position. As a condition of employment you are
required to become a member of the Unit or pay representation fees per the negotiated contract.

experience and training and the results of a keyboarding (typing speed/accuracy) test with a minimum of 35 net w.p.m..
