The Yakima County Treasurer's Office actively manages an investment portfolio of approximately $350 million. The investments of Yakima County, as well as most districts in the County, are pooled together in the Treasurer's Investment Pool (TIP). Currently, TIP participation involves 97 different government entities geographically located within the county with over 250 different funds. The Treasurer's Office invests the public's funds in accordance with all federal, state and local governing statutes as well as in accordance with the Yakima County Investment Policy and standards established by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
The Treasurer's Investment Pool Fund is a self-supporting fund, which is established within statutory regulations to recover all costs incurred by administering the investment pool. TIP was established to provide a more efficient way to manage cash reserves and maximize interest income.
