Veterans Program
The Yakima County Veterans Program is dedicated to serving Veterans and family members in Yakima County. We are home to 13,000 Veterans!
The Yakima County Veterans Program is a point of entry for all Veterans and their families for information and referral to federal, state, and local resources.
Our Veterans Relief Fund assists qualified low income Veterans with financial relief and other services.
Our program is a division of the Yakima County Department of Human Services. The county program has had a long standing tradition of assisting indigent Veterans and their family with emergency needs through the Veterans Relief Fund, as well as other resources. In recent years, services have been extended to provide outreach and case management. Additional services and programs have also been added to serve homeless Veterans and their family as well as incarcerated Veterans.
We seek to be a local and personal contact for county Veterans and their family to bring their questions, concerns, and issues to be addressed. Many Veterans are not always aware of benefits and services that may be available through federal, state, and local services.
We seek to provide basic information, referral, and advocacy. It is our desire to see every returning Veteran and their family provided with the support they need and deserve for their service to our county.
The Yakima County Veterans Advisory Board provides guidance for the program by advising the County Commissioners on policy and procedures. The program is funded by Yakima County and other resources, and mandated by the State of Washington, RCW 73.08.010. Additional funding is provided by generous donations from individuals and organizations.
The Yakima County Veterans Program would like to say welcome home to every veteran and their family member whether they are a veteran of recent days or past. Thank you all for your service!
