Yakima County's 2011 Nitrate Treatment Pilot Program
In response to ongoing concerns about nitrate contamination in the Lower Yakima Valley groundwater, the 2010 Legislature provided $395,200 to allow Yakima County to develop a treatment program for households with people at high public health risk from nitrate contamination. This six-month program, a precursor to the Lower Yakima Valley GWMA, provided important input into what would eventually become the GWMA.
