Food Handler Card

Testing for the food handler's card at the Yakima Health District office will be Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm. Tuesday hours will be 9:30 am - 3:30 pm.

Online Food Handler Card Testing

Food Worker card education and testing is available online. Allow at least 45 minutes to watch a video and take the exam. Multiple languages are available including English, Spanish, and Korean.

The test costs $10, payable online with a credit card. A 2% convenience fee will apply to credit purchases transacted at the Yakima Health District.

Certified Food Protection Manager

Beginning in March 2023, food establishments must have access to a person who is a certified food protection manager (CFPM). Only one staff member needs to have this certification. The CFPM does not need to be on site at all times, but a copy of the valid certificate must be available. The CFPM must make sure the persons in charge are trained and able to control food safety in the establishment. There are six American National Standards Institute (ANSI) ‐accredited certification providers you can chose from. Click here for more information.
