What is GIS?
GIS or Geographic Information System is used to capture, manage, analyze, and display all forms of geographically referenced information. GIS allows us to view, understand, question, interpret and visualize our world in ways that reveal relationships, patterns and trends in the form of maps, reports and charts. The purpose of GIS is to answer questions and solve problems by looking at data in a way that is quickly understood and easily shared -- on a map! ( ESRI)
