YAKIMA – Yakima County officials will celebrate the completion of the North Meyers 485 and 502 Bridge Replacement Project with a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, November 29 at 10:00 a.m.
The reconstruction of the bridges and roadway section over the Yakima River replaces aging infrastructure, provides safety and transportation improvements, and reopens the major corridor between the cities of Zillah and Toppenish. The corridor was closed for nearly two years to traffic due to reconstruction following flood damage in 2016.
According to Public Services officials, the multi-million, multi-year reconstruction project was funded with a combination of state and federal grants and local match funds. Yakima County worked closely with multiple jurisdictions and agencies from concept to construction to insure the project’s completion.
The media and public are invited to attend Wednesday’s ribbon cutting; however, they must provide their own transportation.
