YAKIMA, WA – Yakima County Public Services is will begin accepting site specific comprehensive plan map amendments and text amendments to the comprehensive plan and development regulations on January 3, 2022. Applications and request forms must be submitted in person with the appropriate fees by Monday, January 31, by 4:00 p.m. to be considered for this amendment cycle. 

 

Applicants are encouraged to meet with County Planning staff prior to submittal to ensure their application is complete. “The pre-application meeting is important because it allows staff the opportunity to provide specific information and guidance to the applicant to ensure they submit the best application possible,” stated Tua Vang, Yakima County Senior Project Planner.

 

Next steps: After staff review, the proposed map and text amendment will be presented to the Planning Commission for its review. Ultimately, its findings and recommendations will be presented to the Board of County Commissioners, which will hold its own hearing to take public testimony on the proposals in late 2022.
