Catering and Event Vending

What is a Catering and Event Vending Food License?

A Catering and Event Vending Food License allows you to provide one or both of the following services:

Cater food at private events, such as:

  • Weddings
  • Quinceañeras
  • Fundraisers
  • Work gatherings

Sell food at multiple approved public events, including:

  • Community pop-up events
  • Farmers markets
  • Festivals and fairs

Food prepared for catering or event vending must be made in a licensed, fixed-location commercial kitchen. Home kitchens are not allowed.

If you already operate a licensed food establishment, you may use your existing kitchen. If you are applying as a new business, you will need to find a commercial kitchen and submit a commissary agreement with your application.

Your commissary kitchen must provide:

  • Restrooms
  • A handwashing sink
  • Approved commercial kitchen equipment
  • Space for dishwashing and food preparation
  • Labeled storage space
  • A three-compartment sink for washing, rinsing and sanitizing
  • Food preparation sinks (if needed)
  • An approved public water source or commercially bottled water
  • Proper wastewater disposal through a service sink, city sewer, or YHD-approved septic system
