Mechanical Inspections

Request for inspection shall be made at least one working day before such inspection is desired.  A specific time cannot be scheduled due to the inspectors workload.

Before calling for an inspection, please have the following information available:

  • Permit Number

  • Owners name

  • Address of job site

  • Contact person phone number

  • Type of inspection you are requesting for example, air conditioner, duct work, fireplace or insert, furnace, gas piping, kitchen range hood, vents, wood stove / pellet stove.

  • Several types of inspections may be performed during one inspection.

  • Appliances / Equipment:  Manufacturers installation instructions shall be made available to the building inspector at time of inspection. 


Pressure Test:


Gas and/or water pressure test card shall be completed and made available to the building inspector.. 

Gas piping:


All portions of the gas piping from the meter to all of the appliances must be tested and inspected prior to cover by construction materials or earth.

Furnace / Hot Water Tank Location:

 
To be made after the appliance has been placed with all venting, duct work and gas lines attached and before the gas is turned on.

Venting:


To be made after the appliances are installed in their permanent location and all of the appliance venting is finished.

Combustion Air:


To be made after all appliances are installed in their permanent location provided with combustion air in compliance with the mechanical code or to the manufacturer's listing.

Duct work: 


To be made after all return and supply air ducts have been sized properly and installed in compliance with the mechanical code or to the manufacturer's listing.

Fire Dampers:


To be made after all required fire dampers are installed and visible for inspection.

Final Inspection:


To be made after the mechanical system is completed and ready for use.
