Student Outreach

Many of Yakima County's schools have involved the Elections Division in their elections. We are available to conduct ASB or class officer elections and Prom King and Queen elections. In recent years, we have conducted elections for Wilson Middle School, West Valley Junior High and Selah Junior High.

The Youth Vote

The Elections Division reminds the valley's high school seniors that registering and voting is important by congratulating them on their graduation achievements and providing a voter registration form in their senior packets.

Naturalization Ceremonies

Deciding to become a United States citizen is an important decision in a person's life. When someone voluntarily becomes a U.S. citizen it is known as the Naturalization process. Once they apply and successfully pass the required exams, a Naturalization ceremony is held.

The Elections Division attends Naturalization ceremonies on a monthly basis at the Federal Courthouse in Yakima and at the local U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) office. In the past year, we have attended over 50 ceremonies! New citizens understand the importance of civic engagement and are eager to register to vote!

Tours

The Elections Division offers individual and group tours in English and in Spanish to community members and organizations. To view ballot processing we recommend taking the tour 18 days before an election period.
