There are 10 camp facilities in Yakima County that the living environment program oversees. This program issues operating permits, conducts field inspections, and evaluates performance to assure public health and safety standards are being maintained.
Site Evaluations
Site evaluation includes general assessment of:
- Sanitation for health and cleanliness in water quality (both drinking and swimming pool)
- Proper sewage disposal
- Garbage disposal
- Structural integrity
- Space for living quarters
- Food-handling practices
- General maintenance and supervision of the premises
Additionally, camp records are monitored, a water sample for bacterial analysis is collected and educational materials are provided for:
- Vector control (mosquitoes, bats, mice, etc.)
- Food-safety
- Current recalls or bulletins that may be in effect at the time
