Criminal Division
The Criminal Division of the Yakima County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is responsible for reviewing referrals from law enforcement agencies and determining whether criminal charges should be filed. Our attorneys prosecute cases in Superior Court, District Court, and Juvenile Court, working closely with victims, witnesses, and law enforcement to ensure justice is served.
To carry out this work, the Criminal Division is comprised of specialized teams, each focusing on unique areas of criminal prosecution:
Domestic Violence Team – handling crimes involving family and intimate partner violence
Felony Team – prosecuting serious criminal offenses filed in Superior Court
Juvenile Team – addressing crimes committed by youth under the age of 18
District Court Team – managing misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor cases in District Court
Drug & Property Crimes Team – focusing on offenses such as theft, burglary, and controlled substances
Together, these teams ensure that cases are handled thoroughly, fairly, and with a commitment to protecting the community.
