Yakima Valley Emergency Management Volunteer Program
The YVEM Volunteer Program engages trained community volunteers to support emergency management through preparedness, response, and recovery activities in Yakima County.
The Yakima County ARES/RACES group is involved with supporting groups in the Yakima Valley including the Yakima Valley Office of Emergency Management and the Yakima County Sheriff's Office.
Most of the fire department staff in the Yakima Valley are volunteers. If you are interested in helping you neighbors, find your local fire department and inquire about volunteering. You can volunteer as a firefighter or support the department by helping in other ways.
Whether helping one displaced family or thousands, providing care and comfort to an ill or injured service member or veteran, or teaching others how to respond in emergencies, it’s through the efforts of ordinary people that we can do great things.
Yakima County Sheriff's office provides search and rescue throughout Yakima County and outlying areas, primarily in remote wilderness areas. Our team of highly trained and motivated volunteers bring special skills, equipment and their personal time to assist the sheriff in providing exceptional search and rescue service to the citizens of Yakima County.
