Foodborne Illness
Foodborne illness can happen when food is not cooked, handled, or stored safely. Some examples include Salmonella, Norovirus, and Listeria.
Symptoms may appear hours or days after eating. Foodborne illness is rarely caused by the last thing you ate. Common symptoms include diarrhea, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and fever. Some people are more likely to get very sick, including older adults, young children, and people who are pregnant or immunocompromised.
